Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 August 2026

These terms cover your use of ThreadMail, a free desktop email client published by Loan Guilbaud ("the developer"). By installing or using the app you accept them. They are short on purpose.

1. What ThreadMail is

ThreadMail is a program you install on your own computer. It connects to mail accounts you already have, using IMAP and SMTP. It is not a mail service: the developer does not host, deliver or store your email. If your provider is down or closes your account, ThreadMail cannot help.

2. Licence

ThreadMail is free of charge. You may install and use it on as many of your own machines as you like, for personal or business use. The app itself stays the developer's property: you may not redistribute, sell, modify or decompile it without written permission. Using the app grants you no ownership of it.

3. Your account is yours to look after

You are responsible for your mail accounts, your passwords, your OAuth grants and anything sent or deleted from your mailbox while using the app. Keep your machine and your account secure. If you let someone else use your computer, they can read your mail in ThreadMail.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use ThreadMail to send spam, to break the law, or in a way that breaks your mail provider's own terms. Your provider, not the developer, decides what your account may do.

5. No warranty

ThreadMail is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. The developer does not promise that the app is free of bugs, that it will keep working, or that it will never lose locally cached data. Treat your mail provider as the authoritative copy of your mail; ThreadMail's local store is a cache.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost mail, lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of ThreadMail. The app is free, so where liability cannot be excluded it is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is zero. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

7. No affiliation

ThreadMail is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google, Microsoft, Apple, or any other mail provider. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to say which services the app can connect to.

8. Updates and changes

The app checks this website for new versions and can update itself. Features may change or be removed between versions. These terms may change too; the date at the top says when they last did, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

9. Ending it

You can stop using ThreadMail at any time by uninstalling it. That ends these terms for you. Sections 5, 6 and 7 continue to apply to any use you already made of the app.

10. Privacy

How the app handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

11. Contact
